Johnson man indicted on federal drug and gun charges
ASHLAND, Ky. — A Johnson County man is facing the potential of spending the rest of his life in prison, following his indictment on armed fentanyl trafficking charges. Brian “Butterbean” Charles, 43, of Thelma, was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in London. He is charged with possession of more than 500 grams of meth and fentanyl with the intent to distribute, using a firearm in a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm. Three Knott residents indicted on federal cocaine conspiracy charges
LONDON, Ky. — Three people have been indicted on federal cocaine conspiracy charges, after two of them were arrested during a traffic stop on the Mountain Parkway. Jimmy Edward “Jimbo” Hall, 62, and Frankie Lynn Hall, 49, both of Dema, were arrested following the traffic stop on July 13, when state troopers found more than four ounces of cocaine in their car. Thompson named COO of Highlands ARH
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Michael Thompson has been named Chief Operating Officer for Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center, where he will bring experience he gained while serving as COO of Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center since May 2025. Before coming into health care, Thompson was the CFO of businesses ranging from real estate to restaurants under an umbrella company. Driver arrested following injury crash in Pike County
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — An Elkhorn City man has been arrested on DUI and felony charges, following a crash between his truck and a motorcycle. It happened just before 9:30 Wednesday night on old U.S. 460 near Indian Hills Liquor Store. Witnesses told Pikeville Police that the motorcycle collided with a truck, and the operator of the motorcycle was found unresponsive at the scene.
