Pikeville students earn awards at technology conference
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Pikeville High School students brought home the hardware from the Kentucky Technology Student Association conference this week. Students brought home a number of awards across several categories, including: The conference was held March 16-18 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.

Belfry man arrested after allegations he inappropriately touched three boys
HATFIELD, Ky. — A Belfry man has been arrested after he was accused of filming himself molesting three boys. A Social Services special investigator requested a state trooper accompany her to a complaint at a home on Elkins Fork Thursday afternoon. When they arrived, they found Robert Blankenship, 27, of Belfry, standing outside the home. After determining that he was not a parent or related to anyone in the home, they spoke to a 15-year-old, who said his parents had gone to pick up his brothers from school. 15th Region player to watch: Pike Central Hawk Jonah Hicks
Jonah Hicks is the definition of a two-sport star. The baseball and football standout for the Pike Central Hawks is looking to build off an incredible freshman year heading into baseball season. Jonah has been playing baseball at an elite level for the Hawks since his eighth-grade year. Now a sophomore, Hicks is known as one of the best two-way players in the 15th region. The Pitcher/Shortstop can really do it all on the diamond; his numbers with the Hawks in his first two seasons are impressive to say the least. Former Magoffin teacher pleads guilty to charges related to sexual texts with student
SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A former Magoffin County middle school teacher has pleaded guilty a second time to charges related to sexual messages he sent to a 14-year-old student. Jordan Cobb, 32, of Salyersville, pleaded guilty Thursday to procuring the use of a minor by electronic means and harassing communications in Magoffin Circuit Court. He admitted to engaging in a conversation with a 14-year-old former student over Snapchat in May of 2023. During that conversation, Cobb sent the child a series of sexually explicit messages, which included nude photos of himself and requests for the girl to have sex with him. […]

Pehlps man facing several felony charges after domestic incident with gun
PHELPS, Ky. — A Pike County man is facing burglary, wanton endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and other charges, after his wife reported him for trying to kill everyone in the house because he believed he had been poisoned. Ronald Coots, of Phelps, is being held in the Pike County jail. Police were called to his house on Friday, March 13, after his wife reported he was outside with a gun threatening to kill people.
