Police seize large amount of drugs during raid
MARTIN, Ky. — A Floyd County man was arrested Thursday, after police raided his home and seized a large amount of drugs. Officers with Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement Special Investigations East Unit served a search warrant at the Sunny Road home of David Ousley, 44. During their search, they seized nearly three-quarters of a pound of meth, 23 Xanax bars, three oxycodone tablets, 21 methadone wafers, 26 Tramadol tablets and 7 lbs. of marijuana, along with 21 long guns, 10 handguns and about $5,400 in cash. Woman charged with DUI while picking up kids from school
EASTERN, Ky. — A Floyd County woman was arrested for DUI and other charges while in the school pickup line. It happened Wednesday afternoon at Duff-Allen Central Elementary, where a school resource officer approached a car to ask who the driver was picking up. The police report says that when the woman, identified as Jessica Rocha, 30, rolled down her window, he immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. UK Cheerleading to Compete in National Competitions
PRESS RELEASE: UK ATHLETICS LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky cheerleading squad will compete in the Universal Cheer Association national championships beginning on Saturday in Orlando. UK will compete in two different competitions during the event. First up will be the Division 1A Coed competition, with Kentucky competing at 12:50 on Saturday afternoon. Finals for the Division 1A Coed competition will be on Sunday night, and the winners will be announced late that evening. Kentucky has won this division 24 times, more than any other school. UK RFL: Rifle Begins 2026 with Two Tri-Matches in Alaska
PRESS RELEASE: UK ATHLETICS LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2026 rifle season has arrived as the University of Kentucky rifle team will compete for the first time this new year in back-to-back tri-matches against Alaska and Nebraska in Fairbanks, Alaska on Saturday and Sunday. Lawrence oil well operator charged with Clean Water Act violation
ASHLAND, Ky. — A Lawrence County oil well operator has been indicted for a violation of the Clean Water Act. Joshua Ferguson is charged with a felony count of the charge in an indictment handed down in federal court on Thursday. The indictment alleges he dumped brine water from oil production into the Left Fork of Blaine Creek on Sept. 3. If convicted he faces a sentence of up to three years in prison and a fine between $5,000 and $50,000 for each day of violation.
