Floyd man sentenced on federal drug and gun charges
LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Floyd County man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to federal drug and gun charges. Bradford Hunt, 51, of Hi Hat, pleaded guilty back in August to possession of controlled substances with the intent to distribute and using a firearm in a drug trafficking crime. Hunt was arrested in October of 2022, when Floyd County deputies went to serve a warrant at home on Toler Creek and he was found outside with more than a quarter-pound of meth, along with bags of fentanyl, heroin, Suboxone and oxycodone and two guns. Marshall Softball Announces 2026 Schedule
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The 2026 schedule is set for Marshall Softball, with the Herd scheduled to host 18 games at Dot Hicks Field this spring. Head Coach Morgan Zerkle announced the team’s complete slate Tuesday with opening day coming from Tallahassee, Florida on Feb. 6. “I am excited to see Marshall Softball compete against some of the best teams in the country and feel prepared for another season of competitive Sun Belt play,” said Coach Zerkle. Pike child porn suspect scheduled to appear in court
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man is scheduled to appear in court after being indicted on a federal child porn charge. Charles Michael Hopkins, 34, of Virgie, was indicted last week on a single count of possession of child porn. He was arrested last month, when police, acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, searched his home and seized several electronic devices. An affidavit by the investigating officer says Hopkins initially admitted that someone he had met online had sent him child porn, but he deleted the images after discovering what it was. […]

Two juveniles injured, another arrested following Pike shooting
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Two juveniles suffered gunshot wounds, following a shooting Tuesday near Pikeville. Kentucky State Police responded to a 911 call reporting the shooting at Ray’s Branch, off of the Left Fork of Island Creek. When they arrived, they found the youths had been shot by another teen. The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The shooter was taken into custody on charges of first-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a minor.
