PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville – Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine welcomed 171 first-year medical students into the medical profession on Sept. 26 during its annual White Coat Ceremony at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. Deputy stops at gas station, ends up arresting two for meth trafficking
STANVILLE, Ky. — Two men were arrested after a Floyd County deputy sheriff’s nose led him to find two men with a stash of meth. Sheriff’s Deputy David Pennington had stopped Saturday afternoon at the Cardinal Country Store on U.S. 23 at Stanville. While walking into the store, he passed a white SUV and smelled marijuana coming from it. Looking closer, he spotted Logan Ross, 21, of Blackey, in the back of the vehicle. Ohio man federally indicted after Pike County traffic stop yields quarter-pound of meth
LONDON, Ky. — An Ohio man who was arrested back in August after police found a quarter-pound of meth in his car has now been indicted by a federal grand jury. Delbert Lee Chambers, 42, of Akron, was arrested Aug. 26, after he was pulled over for driving 5 mph over the speed limit. During the stop, police smelled marijuana smoke, so they searched the car. Pike Central band wins Grand Championship for second week in a row
CHILHOWIE, Va. — The Pike Central Marching Hawks continued an outstanding 2026 competitive season Saturday, earning Grand Champion honors at the Chilhowie Apple Festival Marching Band Competition in Chilhowie, Virginia. The victory marks Pike Central’s second consecutive Grand Championship in just two weeks and ties school history for the most Grand Championships earned in a single competitive season. Pike man arrested for downtown shooting
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man is facing a felony charge, following a shooting in downtown Pikeville. Jayden Jackson, 20, of Canada, is accused of visiting a downtown bar with a loaded gun and of firing the weapon across Caroline Avenue. According to Pikeville Police, a caller reported a man for being out in the street holding a gun. While the caller was still on the phone with a dispatcher, the man fired one or more shots across the road, then got into a car and left. Police soon found the car and pulled it over.
