Lady Eagles Cruise to 7-0 Victory Behind Davis, Murphy
The Johnson Central Lady Eagles remained undefeated Monday night, cruising to a 7-0 win over Powell County. Callie Davis led the way for the Lady Eagles with three goals and two assists, while Braylee Murphy followed with two goals and three assists. Lilly Jarrell and Karlea Stanley each added a goal to round out the scoring. Johnson Central used two goalkeepers on the night. Dickenson County Fair announces four days of family fun, music and entertainment Sept. 16-19

Kinner’s 20 Kills Power Paintsville Past Prestonsburg
Volleyball season tipped off Monday, and the Paintsville Lady Tigers started off strong with a 3-0 win over Prestonsburg. Paintsville took the match with set scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-11. Area standout Kylie Kinner led the way for the Lady Tigers with 20 kills, six digs, an assist and a serving ace. Another notable performance came from Chloe Reed, who finished with 10 kills, five digs and two serving aces. Individual statistics for Prestonsburg were not available at press time. Hit and run, pursuit ends in truck fire
PIKEVILLE, KY – On Monday, August 17, Kentucky State Police received a call concerning a hit and run on U.S. 23 near Dorton. While enroute, a civilian called in to KSP Post 9 to report they had almost been hit by a white Chevrolet Silverado with a blown tire on U.S. 23 headed toward Pikeville and they had followed the truck to the Industrial Park. Pike man indicted for child rape, sodomy, sex abuse
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man has been arrested following his indictment on charges of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse. Joshua Charles, 39, of Greasy Creek, was indicted last month on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse. He was arrested on Monday on Second Street in Pikeville. He is accused of subjecting a child younger than 12 to sexual contact from September of 2020 to September of 2021. The rape and sodomy charges are punishable by 20-to-50 years or life in prison, while the sex abuse charge carries a potential 5-to-10-year sentence. Charles is being […]
