Man killed in single-vehicle crash
LINEFORK, Ky. — One man is dead following a crash Monday afternoon in Letcher County. It happened just after 1:30 p.m. on Defeated Creek Road, at Linefork. Kentucky State Police says Terry C. Combs, 58, of Linefork, failed to negotiate a curve and overturned over an embankment, partially ejecting him from his truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Combs was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

Pike man arrested after suspected DUI crash with two children in car
HARDY, Ky. — A Pike County man is facing felony charges because police say he was under the influence when he crashed his car with two young boys in the car. The crash happened Sunday night on Route 319 at Hardy. When police arrived at the scene, firefighters told them the driver, identified as John Mayhew Jr., 41, of McCarr, required two doses of the overdose medication Narcan to awaken. Vehicular homicide suspect asks for bond to be reduced again
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A man charged with vehicular homicide for the 2023 death of two girls in a DUI crash is asking to have his bond reduced for a second time. Marcus Logan Auxier, 21, of Nippa, is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, DUI, three counts of wanton endangerment, three counts of first-degree assault, and leaving the scene of an accident. He is accused of being impaired in July 2023 when he crashed his vehicle with five other people in the car. Shoplifting suspect pulls knife, gives up when officer reaches for gun
PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — What began a routine shoplifting call Friday night quickly escalated, but stopped just short of shots being fired. Paintsville Police were called to Walmart around 7 p.m. over a report of a shoplifter. When officers arrived, they found the suspect, Scotty Marshall, 39, of Salyersville, in the doorway of the security office. Former Exile member Bernie Faulkner dies
FRANKLIN, Tenn. — A Perry County native and former member of country and soft rock band Exile, has died. Bernie Faulkner died on Sunday, Dec. 1, in Franklin, Tenn. Faulkner joined the band in 1967, replacing former keyboardist Buzz Cornelison and also contributing on guitar and saxophone. He would remain with the band until 1973. During Faulkner’s tenure with the band, they toured the country with Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars three times and landed a deal with Columbia Records in 1969.
